How do I choose the size of my Lange ski boots?
Choosing the right ski boots isn't always easy. Yet, it's an essential step in experiencing unforgettable moments on the snow. It's therefore important to find the right pair for your shoe size and body shape.
A poorly fitting shoe, whether too big or too small, will cause discomfort. To ensure the best fit, two measurements should be taken into account: the length and width of your feet.
know my shoe size in mondopoint
measure n°1: length
The commonly used sizing system for ski boots is the mondopoint. This measurement refers to the length of the foot, from toe to heel, and is expressed in centimeters. For example, a 26.5 MP boot is suitable for a foot measuring 26.5 cm long.
Each authorized Lange dealer has a specific foot measuring device to accurately measure each skier's foot length. Choose the same boot size as the measurement for an accurate fit.
Here are some tips for choosing the right shoe size:
1) When you bend your knees, your toes should have a minimum amount of space against the end of the shoe. If your toes touch the end of the shoe when you are leaning forward, it is best to take the upper size.
2) To avoid pressure points, ski boot buckles should never be too tight. Instead, look for a precise initial fit that doesn't depend on overtightening the buckles. If you have to fully tighten the buckles to achieve the desired fit, the boot is too big. It's best to choose the smaller size.
3) The liner will pack and adapt to your foot over time, so make sure it fits properly while remaining comfortable.
4) Ski socks have a significant impact on the fit and comfort of your ski boot. Socks that are too thick can often restrict blood circulation and provide less warmth. Therefore, opt for thinner socks for greater sensitivity and precision.
determine the fit adapted to my body shape
measure n°2: width
In order to choose the ideal model, you must ensure that the fit of the boot is adapted to the morphology of your foot. The fit of a ski boot, also called last, corresponds to the width of the foot measured at the 5th metatarsal (widest part of the front of the foot). It is expressed in millimeters and allows you to determine the skier's level of control and precision.
Lange offers three fits to precisely adapt to different foot shapes and widths: narrow, medium, wide.
1) precision fit (92-95 mm): recommended for competitors and ideal for narrow feet.
2) Fit Performance (97-99mm): Suitable for medium width feet, neither thin nor wide.
3) fit comfort (100-102 mm): ideal for wide feet.
For the best balance between comfort and control, choose a boot that matches the volume and overall length of your foot. If you prioritize precision, choose a narrower boot. However, don't choose a boot that's too wide, as you risk losing control of your skis.
Each authorized Lange dealer has a specific Lange footsizer to precisely measure each skier's foot and determine whether it is "narrow", "medium" or "wide".
