The Velec R48-i (i for loT!) is a new, state-of-the-art model in the electric bike industry. Faithful to what made the classic R48 so successful, this bike will mark the start of a major trend.

Equipped with the new FTEX controller, torque sensor and loT module, the R48-i has significantly higher autonomy values ​​at equal amperage than its classic R48 counterpart. Pedaling and electric assistance from the high-torque motor (500 watts excluding VAT) provide a naturally powerful ride. The R48-i experience will be enhanced by the use of the FTEX mobile application.

DESCRIPTION

Four key aspects improved or added to the R48-i

1. Battery & controller

The R48i battery is an improved version of the standard R48 battery, both in terms of performance and safety. Firstly, this new bike has the same 48V/10Ah or 48V/14Ah battery but equipped with thermal resistance. Each cell of the R48i batteries is rigorously encapsulated in a thermal resin insulating each cell. Therefore, if one of the battery cells overheats, the problem will not spread to the other battery cells. This extra effort makes this battery one of the safest on the Canadian electric bike market.

In addition, our R48i battery is UL-2271 certified, ensuring that the product is safe for use and storage.

Our new R48i controller manages the previously mentioned battery power distribution much better. In fact, it allows you to access 30% additional autonomy compared to the standard R48 model. You can therefore count on your 48V/10Ah battery to drive 100km and 140km with your 48V/14Ah battery.

2. Two independent sensors

However, the most impressive aspect of this new electric bike is the duality of the sensors. The R48i is equipped with both a cadence sensor and a torque sensor , giving you the choice between the classic rear-wheel motor experience (cadence) and the feel of a crank motor ( couple). Why choose between a rear wheel motor and a pedal motor when you can have both feelings on an electric bike?

3. Connected features

The R48i is equipped with an IoT module allowing it to connect to the FTEX mobile application. You will be able to update your bike's software directly from the app. Your bike will therefore be up to date with the different features that will arrive in the years to come without you needing to get a new electric bike. The app is only available on iOS at the moment. The Android version will be available towards the end of June.

4. Improved equipment

Our electric bikes are always sold fully equipped, and this equipment is also improved on the new R48i. Our plastic mudguards (front & rear) are replaced by aluminum mudguards that are much more resistant to road hazards. Anchors to facilitate the addition of a bottle cage have also been added. Additionally, our usual rear mounts are replaced with a MIK rear mount allowing you to use your MIK accessories on your all-new R48i.

You can also count on the return of the horn on your Velec with the R48i! In fact, by pressing the “M” key on your console buttons you will be able to notify anyone of your arrival.
