Vectran

Vectran™ is a high-tech fiber synthetically made from a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran™ is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP). Vectran™ is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectran and then processed into a multi-strand yarn. Spider silk like Vectran™ has enormous tear strength at a very low weight: Exactly the right properties to be processed into a puncture protection insert in a high-end Continental bicycle tire. A Vectran™ breaker is lighter, more flexible, and provides more effective protection against cuts than a comparable nylon breaker. The Vectran™ breaker does not negatively affect rolling resistance.
